Junior tennis lessons are a great way for your child to learn the fundamentals of tennis while in a supportive environment.

Centennial Parklands Sports Centre has a wide range of tennis lessons for children of all ages and abilities. See below to see which program best suits your child.

 

Term 4 registrations will open on the 21st of September 2026

Term 4 will commence on the week of the Monday 12th October 2026 , and will finish on the week of the Monday 14th December 2026.

Junior Group Lessons- Advanced Matchplay

Designed for players aged 10 and over who are already competing with the full‑court yellow ball. Each session begins with 30 minutes of physical development, including movement, footwork, and strength‑based drills, along with targeted coaching to sharpen technique and decision‑making.

Players then move into one hour of structured matchplay, giving them the chance to apply their skills in real‑point situations while developing tactical awareness, resilience, and competitive confidence.

Junior Group Lessons -12-14s Advanced (60 Minutes)

12-14’s Advanced sessions are for players who have taken some tennis instruction in the past!

All fundamental strokes are covered.

Players need to be able to hold a ~8+ shots rally.

Matchplay singles and doubles with serving.

Junior Group Lessons - Blue Ball (30 Minutes)

A foundation course which introduces children to the fine & gross motor skills required for tennis. This ‘Launch’ class is big on new skills and easy-to-learn techniques. For children aged 3–5.

Junior Group Lessons - Red Ball (45 Minutes)

Our Red Ball program focuses on teaching strokes, movement patterns, and hitting—with some work on fine & gross motor skills. For children aged 5–7.

Junior Group Lessons - Orange Ball Intro (60 Minutes)

Our Orange Ball Intro program is designed for young players making the move up to Orange Ball from Red Ball. Players can expect to spend at least three terms at this level. Players at this stage are learning to make consistent contact while stationary and are gaining familiarity executing forehands, backhands, volleys, and the serve. Sessions are technique-based with a play portion at the end. For children aged 7–9.

Junior Group Lessons - Orange Ball Improver (60 Minutes)

A progression of our Orange Ball Intro class, these sessions focus on refining technique while introducing young players to point-play scenarios. The focus shifts to movement, mini-rallies, and competitive situations. Orange Ball Improver players can maintain a coach-guided rally for ~8+ shots. Players at this level are also more comfortable executing forehands, backhands, volleys, and the serve. For children aged 7–9.

Junior Group Lessons - Green Ball Intro (60 Minutes)

For tennis players making the move up to Green Ball from Orange Ball. Sessions focus on adding movement patterns to stroke production, acclimatising to the larger court and faster ball, and refining current technique. Players can expect to spend at least two to three terms at this level. Sessions have a focus on technique and play. Your child will have taken some tennis instruction—though it is not a prerequisite—and classes are for children aged 10–12.
